SantaFeHotels.com traces its roots to a timeshare operation started in 1979 by Dr. David Carlson of New Mexico State University at Fort Marcy Compound in Santa Fe, New Mexico. John Smallwood purchased the firm in January 1983, and over the next ten years converted the business to a classic resort and vacation rental business.
