Quiet unpretentious beauty, the essence of Japanese aesthetics, is also an endearing quality of the American Southwest. Touching Stone Gallery explores this aesthetic sensitivity by showing museum-quality Japanese pottery, contemporary Japanese ceramics, sumi-e paintings, and Japanese folk art. Our gallery promotes artists whose works are rooted in traditions and driven by ideas. Our monthly exhibitions introduce outstanding Japanese ceramic artists pursuing different pottery styles from major Japanese ceramic centers. All exhibits in the gallery are viewable on-line, offering a useful resource for enthusiasts of Japanese pottery and ceramics world-wide. Touching Stone Gallery is also committed to promote contemporary sumi-e painting. We sponsor exhibitions, lectures and workshops, in collaboration with museums and educational institutions and the Santa Fe-Japan Art & Culture Exchange Program (JACEP).
